Things i need to think about before making my magazine cover !

As the magazine i am designing will be for college students at Wyke College ,i need to think about the design layout and stories in which i will present on the main cover ,also i will need to think about weather my magazine will be free of charge or have a small price charge for my magazine .

Price
As a student of Wyke i think that college magazines should be free of charge so as i am going to make a magazine for students i will make it free of charge so it will appeal to many people .Putting a price tag on my magazine would bring the sales down and it wouldnt be very popular within the college community which is not what i would like to happen .

Presentation
As i would like my magazine to appeal to students i need my magazine cover to look modern and stylish to attract attention .Dull bland colours will not work for this age range ,so i would like the colours i choose for my cover to be bright and vibrant to stand out as much as possible to make the students want to read it .I will need to choose a house style so the colours dont all clash on the page and look untidy ,to find a suitable house style i will first look on the Wyke College website to see what sort of colours are used on there ,then take that into account when choosing my colours .I want my layout to be quite unique and modern so ,i am going to put my masthead somewhere different from where you normally see it ,maybe in the top left hand side ,or right ,i will also mess around with the angles of my writing to make it look as unique as possible .

Photography
As i need to use a medium close up of a student for the front cover ,i want the photograph to be appropriate for this type of magazine so ... i will maybe photograph a student in the library studying (showing the educational side of Wyke College ) ,or a student sat in the canteen(this would show the social side of Wyke) , or a student stood outside the Oak building (this could represent the new building and its grand opening ) .I would like the student to look happy and enthusiastic about the thought of college as i want my magazine to create a positive optimistic thought and represent  what student life is like at Wyke College .
